On Rhinnal, Vel Ardox and Noro Zak oversaw Adi's recuperation while Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan go star hopping and discover the Bartokk assassins were hired to for a job that involved the Corulag Academy. However, a severe storm on Rhinnal knocked out the planet's communications, and the inability to receive transmissions prompted Obi-Wan to fear that something sinister had happened on Rhinnal and that Vel, Noro, and Adi Gallia were in danger. Soon Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan joined Vel and the two Jedi on Rhinnal and discovered they were in no danger at all. Obi-Wan explained that they were on the trail of the Bartokks who had stolen the droid starfighters for their mission on Corulag.

Obi-Wan soon received word that the Corulag Academy had been involved in a fight involving the droid starfighters and left the situation up to Vel and the Jedi to discuss. However, before a solution could be decided upon, Vel and the Jedi received word from Jedi Masters Mace Windu and Yoda that they were to meet with them on Corulag to discuss urgent matters. Vel, Noro Zak, Adi Gallia, Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan, and a couple more members of the team Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan had picked up along the way left Rhinnal for Corulag, and there, they learned that their new mission was to rescue a Force-sensitive child, Teela Panjarra, from the Corulag Academy Science Service's chief scientist, a man by the name of Frexton.

Before the rescue could begin, Vel and the Jedi were attacked by the Bartokks and their droids, still insistent on completing their mission. Now it was up to the Jedi not only to rescue Teela, but the other children within the Corulag Academy's nursery as well. While Vel and the Jedi rescued the remaining children, Jedi Master Yoda located Frexton, saved Teela Panjarra, and destroyed the Bartokks and their queen. With the Bartokks defeated, and the innocent people of Corulag Academy saved, Vel Ardox and the Jedi returned to Coruscant victorious.
